Present

by Kathleen on March 29, 2011

I’d heard about One Little Word; even considered choosing a word for 2010.  But there was plenty to think about, and I just wasn’t up to it, even if some sort of focus would have helped.

2011 is different.

This feels like a get-my-shit-together kind of year, and the discipline of choosing a word to meditate on sounds just about right.  It was an easy choice, too.  My winter epiphanies helped me realize that I needed to stop compulsively taking the edge off and just be present.

Present to the disappointment and potty training and sibling rivalry, and present to the snuggles and stories and kitchen dance parties.

Also, present to the playmobils.

I love it. All we can do is be right there in the moment and how could you not when you come upon a group of face down playmobil in a palette! You have inspired me to take pictures of the playmobil set-ups instead of vacuuming up the tiny pieces.

we love playmobil here at this house.
my kids are 16 and I refuse to pack it away. I have been known to tuck the odd piece into the christmas stocking even at this age.
